Every human being is equipped with a conscious and a subconscious mind. What is unknown to most of us is that our subconscious mind, also known as the unconscious mind, is equipped with infinite intelligence that determines our life. In other words, the subconscious mind determines, for the most part, what happens in our lives.
But how does the subconscious work?
The subconscious mind is responsible for all our unconscious actions such as breathing, driving a bicycle or a car, eating, and all other things we have been taught a long time ago but will nevertheless stick inside our brains.
If we go deeper into the workings of the subconscious mind, we discover that it can execute everything we conduct to it. It can obey our wishes.
What needs to happen first is that we first have to engrave it with the things we want before it can execute anything we ask. If we are born into this world, our subconscious mind isn’t polluted yet with all of these negative limiting beliefs we tend to have as adults. Because we haven`t gone through a lot and our world is relatively small, our Subconscious is rather fresh and positive.
Eat, Sleep, Cry, Repeat
The only thing we do for the first couple of months is eat, sleep, cry, repeat. There isn’t much else happening, at least on the outside. Nevertheless, our subconscious mind already pays attention to everything that is said and done to us. It also hears every conversation that takes place in our environment.
More than that, our subconscious mind is already active when we are still in the womb. We can notice if our mom is happy or sad. We sense when she feels unsafe or unhappy. Hence, we even perceive an argument when we are still in the womb. The Subconscious mind remembers everything.
Consequently, we start to fill up our Subconscious with all kinds of beliefs and assumptions early on. You can only imagine how much our mind consists of once we begin to go to school. From that moment on, the limiting beliefs and assumptions penetrate our Subconscious at a rapid pace simply because our life starts to become enriched with lots of new experiences and people. Those new learning environments often go hand-in-hand with negative comments of teachers and other children in school.
The polluted subconscious mind
By the time we reach high school and college, this tends to get even worse. Because, as we grow older, expectations tend to be higher, and teachers become sterner. You can imagine that, by the time we begin our adult lives, our Subconscious is overflowing with limiting and negative beliefs. Let alone ten to twenty years later, when we have gone through a lot in our lives.
This sounded troublesome, I know, but the good news is: we can replace all these negative beliefs. Because actually, our subconscious mind is like a puppy. If we bring it up well, it will behave well and bring about everything we want.
How do you start to re-educate your Subconscious?
Firstly, you have to confirm the working of your subconscious mind to yourself even more. The Subconscious can attract good or bad experiences to you. It all depends on how it has been programmed in the past.
As mentioned earlier, our subconscious minds are programmed negatively by default. That is the reason why so many people experience life as a constant struggle. From the moment you realize that your subconscious mind will execute everything you focus on, you can become more conscious of what you give your attention too.
For example, if the first thing you do, when you open your eyes in the morning, is read the newspaper, you most certainly will attract negativity in your life because you feed your mind with negativity first thing in the morning. In other words, you imprint your Subconscious with negativity the moment you get up, and that is typically the time when the subconscious mind is most receptive.
The second-best time to rewrite your Subconscious is right before you fall asleep at night. Because when you are relaxed, and you`re about to drift off to sleep, your Subconscious is less resistant to new and positive ideas.
The secret to a happier life
When you rewire your Subconscious with positive words and statements, your life will become more pleasant. As we have mentioned, our subconscious mind will implement what we offer. So if you provide it with negativity, it will attract negativity.
I am sure you have already experienced those days where everything seems to go wrong. Often, this bad luck already started in the morning when you overslept, for example. In addition to starting your day off late, you drop your coffee on your shirt, so you have to change before you can finally leave for work half-hour late. If that isn’t enough, you also get stuck in the worst traffic jam, and you miss that important meeting you had planned, so your boss gets upset with you.
These unfortunate strings of events often begin because we start to focus on the first thing that goes wrong in the morning and think: `Oh, it must be one of these days again where everything goes wrong.` So that is what you will get because that is the thought you offer to your Subconscious.
The good news
You can make sure you experience such a string of events in a positive way too. The first thing you have to do is start your day early. Get up on time, and dedicate at least thirty minutes to yourself where you will do something just for you. Preferably something that energizes you. For example: meditate, journal, practice gratitude, stretch, plan out your day, do yoga, practice affirmations, or exercise.
When you start your day of doing something pleasant for yourself, you will already feel more positive and happy. If you are disturbed by others in the morning, you can choose to get up a lot earlier than the rest of your family in order to have some time to yourself.
If you make it a priority to get up at least thirty minutes earlier and use the extra time to do something positive for yourself, you will feel energized and happy. You will notice a massive difference in how the rest of your day goes. I promise you! The reason for that is that you focus on something positive first thing in the morning. Since that is the most excellent time to imprint your subconscious mind, chances are the positivism continues throughout the rest of our day.
So how does the subconscious work? It naturally brings you more of what you focus your attention too. So make sure you focus solely on positive things that make you smile, and you will transform your life for the better in no time! Let me know in the comments what you are planning to do during those extra thirty minutes in the morning, and I will get back to you soon.
